畢業于武漢水利電力學院(現武漢大學)本科、中國科學院電工所碩士、河北工業大學博士。本科主修電力工程，曾任職湖南省桂陽縣水電局。碩士主攻半導體光刻機，博士研究第三代半導體材料。發表論文十幾篇，取得實用新型專利和發明專利15項。
1992年加入賽格集團，負責籌備與意法半導體集團的合資項目，項目啟動后轉到合資公司任職，是合資的賽意法微電子的創始人和中方代表之一。 1995年在意法半導體新加坡和馬來西亞的工廠培訓。
2003年以技術專家身份加入廣東科龍集團，曾任技術應用處處長。
2007年任廣東省電子集團技術中心主任，廣東省粵晶高科股份有限公司技術中心主任，副總經理，同時為華南理工大學培養碩士。2008年創辦電子分銷企業，深圳中意法電子科技有限公司， 他的家鄉湖南桂陽追隨他來深圳做電子元器件網絡貿易的達到上萬人，成立了幾百家公司，打破廣東潮州人經營電子元器件一統天下的格局。從2009年起，多次被網站和媒體評選為行業風云人物。
2019年起受聘湘南學院特聘教授。
